Bio-Chem Fluidics manufactures under their brand name Bio-Chem Valve™ miniature dosing components and constructions in standard and custom-made versions for the world's leading instrument manufacturers and end users. The product range includes:

Check Valves - The chemically inert Bio-Chek™ in-line check valves are ideal for low pressure applications where highest purity is essential. Unlike spring-actuated versions, the Bio-Chek™ valves feature a smooth flow path that minimizes shear and turbulence.

The application areas for products from Bio-Chem Fluidics include:

Chromatography - The need for a fully inert fluid path in HPLC instruments is covered by the Bio-Chem Valve™ product line of isolation and mixing valves. These miniature valves provide all-inert flow paths, small footprints, and the accuracy required by this demanding application. Examples of valves used in HPLC instruments include a 2-way inert solenoid valve used as an off/on waste valve and as a pressure relief valve to protect an analytical cell. Solenoid micro pumps are used to dispense liquid onto a piston in a high-pressure pump to maintain lubrication. Other products in use include wash pumps, reagent pumps, switching valves, and gradient valves.

Auto-Sampling - Modern applications with high throughput rates require automated solutions. Pumps and valves from Bio-Chem Fluidics are used where liquids need to be moved quickly and accurately. Liquid handling and sample preparation units use isolation valves at the end of sampling needles, syringes, and probe tips to accurately dispense small volumes. Auto-sampling is an ideal use for three-way isolation valves and micropumps.

Blood Diagnostics - Reliability plays a crucial role in patient results. Valves from Bio-Chem Fluidics have been specified in diagnostic instruments worldwide to achieve fast test cycles, no sample cross-contamination and precise results. Pinch valves can provide a periodic sample to the analyzer or used to dispense a rinse to the sample probe. The distribution and dosing of reagents, line rinsing and venting are standard applications.

Medical Technology - Miniature solenoid valves are used in a wide range of medical technology applications. They are used for example in dialysis machines. The adaptability of the Bio-Chem Valve™ standard product line enables these valves to be used in non-standard high purity or chemically aggressive applications.

Biotechnology - The aggressive solvents and reagents used in many biotechnology applications require a chemically compatible flow path. Bio-Chem Fluidics miniature pumps and valves made of high quality polymers and elastomers fulfill this requirement. They are therefore ideally suited for applications involving small volumes requiring the most accurate dosing and dispensing (solvent selection, flow control in automated systems, autosampling, transport of fluids to the system analyzer, etc.).

Pharmaceutical - Bio-Chem Fluidics valves and pumps are used by many engineers to develop custom machinery for applications such as filling machines, clean-in-place systems or other specialized projects. Mixing valves can be used, for example, in tablet dissolution systems as well as in combinatorial chemistry, which requires the selection of multiple chemicals.

Life Sciences - The Bio-Chem Fluidics product line is used in a variety of demanding applications in this growth market. These include, for example, DNA research, synthesis, sequencing, production, and peptide and protein synthesis. The 2- and 3-way valves are the products of choice for their outstanding sealing properties, fast response times, material composition, reliability and reproducibility.

Environmental Analysis - Bio-Chem Fluidics valves are used worldwide in equipment for measuring the composition of air and water. Instruments for measuring air quality use pinch valves to create a vacuum for drawing in air at specific intervals. Particle counters, environmental monitoring systems, and marine biology devices use solenoid valves to provide the most accurate measurements.

Agriculture/Veterinary Medicine - Applications for Bio-Chem valves and pumps in these fields include flow distribution and -control of cleaning agents, reagents, vaccines and hormones in a range of products. These include equipment for animal vaccination, monitoring the state of health in livestock, determining the composition of soil samples and for the automation of simple manual processes.
