Bio-Chem Valve™ mixing and flow selection valves from Bio-Chem Fluidics combine multiple valve actuators into a single compact valve unit. Since each actuator operates independently, flow selection valves can mix or select any combination of 2 to 8 individual sources. The valve actuators are positioned around a central block, providing flow paths of equal length.

The function principle is similar to that of the solenoid operated Bio-Chem Valve™ isolation valves. A flexible diaphragm isolates the flow path from the solenoid actuation mechanism. When energized, the solenoid retracts an armature attached to the diaphragm. This raises the diaphragm, enabling a flow between the common port and an outlet port. When de-energized, a spring forces the armature and diaphragm down, closing off the flow path.

Because the flow path can be made from extremely inert materials (such as PTFE and PEEK™), mixing and flow selection valves from Bio-Chem Fluidics are particularly suitable for use in highly aggressive and/or high purity fluid applications.


· Choice of orifice sizes: Three valve sizes with precision machined orifice sizes ranging from 0.032" (0.81 mm) to 0.125" (3.2 mm) are available.

· Precise flow characteristics: To ensure equal flow rates at the same pressure, each actuator on the valve is individually precisely adjusted at the factory.

Mixing and flow selection valves from Bio-Chem Fluidics
   · Compact, robust construction: The combination of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 8 valves into one manifold block saves a significant amount of space. The integral construction eliminates the need for tubing sets between the valves.

· Minimal dead volume: The manifold is specially designed to minimize the internal volume of the valve, resulting in minimal dead volume when compared to single, stand-alone valves or manifolds with removable valves. Eliminating the use of tubing sets further reduces the total internal volume of the system.

· Equal length flow paths: The radial layout of the manifold ensures that all flow paths are identical. Therefore, there is no difference in the path length and timing, as would be the case with linear manifolds.

· Inert flow path: The mixing and flow selection valves feature the same method of construction as the isolation valves. All wetted parts are made of inert, non-metallic materials.
